Amazon layoff employees in Human Resources & Amazon Web Services (AWS) in India & it has affected over 500 employees.
This is part of the additional layoffs in March, according to the CEO, Andy Jassy.

Operations in Kochi and Lucknow have also been shutdown. However, Amazon Digital Kentra may be relaunched soon as it may be undergoing refurbishment & restructing.
As part of the Amazon layoff, Amazon has established that about 19000 employees would be laid off & about 500 employees have been laid off in the second round and the process is still ongoing. Amazon e-commerce business growth is declining as a result of this layoff.
“Current layoff round was announced in March. Individuals in Indian teams have been identified now and handed pink slips,” Andy Jassy, Amazon CEO said.
AWS CEO Adam Selipsky had announced in an internal memo late in April that the layoffs at AWS would begin from the North American teams, and would then take place globally. He noted that the slowdown in growth of AWS revenues and the macroeconomic conditions were the major reasons behind the downsizing round.
According to reports, around 100 employees have been laid off from People Experience and Technology Solutions (PXT) late last week. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy in a recent blog post had stated, “We intend to eliminate about 9,000 more positions in the next few weeks — mostly in AWS, PXT, Advertising, and Twitch. This was a difficult decision, but one that we think is best for the company long term.”
An employee working in the data management vertical at the company said, “More than 80 people were fired from data management teams on Friday. Severance is standard plus we will get medical insurance.”
